On Thursday we were introduced to orienteering by Phillip and his daughter Aoife. Orienteering is an exciting outdoor adventure sport similar to a cross country race. It helps us to work as a team and to build our social skills. We had to map read and problem solve in order to complete the puzzles. It was important to listen and communicate the next step to each other. We were excited to get the activity finished before the other team. We completed a course using controls which had to be visited in a particular order. We really enjoyed the taster session in orienteering. Thank you Philip and Aoife! There was a summer holiday feel in the yard on Thursday afternoon as all classes enjoyed their Zumba class. It was a great workout with lively uplifting music which put everyone in a good mood. We had our welly throwing competition on Wednesday afternoon. All classes took part and there was a great array of colours on display. We had great fun seeing whose welly would travel the furthest.
As part of #ASW21, the Olympic Federation of Ireland (OFI) are delighted to share four #ASW21 OLYMPIAN Challenge videos.
These FUN challenges are set to encourage children and young people to them to move more, and to enjoy being active! They are also a great way to introduce students to some of the athletes that will represent Ireland at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, later this year.
