There was great excitement when the pupils discovered that a very special visitor had been spotted in the playground. Here they are busily hunting for the treats he left behind. Wishing all our pupils and their families a very Happy Easter!

Over the last number of weeks the children have been taking part in Duathlon training under the guidance of coach Sasha Gannon from Cavan Sports Partnership.  They have had the opportunity to develop their lifelong skills of running and cycling, while combining these to learn the skills of transitioning from one to another. This has been a fun and exciting programme for all the children which they really enjoyed.  Many thanks to Sasha for making this an enjoyable experience for the children and for encouraging them to complete their first Duathlon!

The Construction Site

We had fun recently in the construction site in Aistear, as the role play corner became a busy site office. Here, projects were planned and materials ordered and delivered. The children learned about famous buildings around the world and constructed some of their own at the junk art table. There was further opportunity to explore different materials and to excavate with diggers in the sand. Our young engineers even constructed some interesting structures from lollipop sticks.

The children dressed in the 'forty shades of green' for our annual 'lá glas' on Friday. They also put on a short performance of music, song and recitation for the parents to celebrate our culture and heritage. Míle buíochas to all the children. Bhí sibh go hiontach!

Visit from Kate Finucane- Bóthar

We were delighted to welcome Kate Finucane from the Irish charity Bóthar to our school recently.
Kate visited the school to speak to the children about the work of Bóthar and also
to receive a cheque donation of €200 as a result of our Christmas Jumper fundraiser
in December.  Kate gave a wonderful talk to the children and showed a PowerPoint
presentation about the work of Bóthar.  She explained to the children that the money
raised would provide a family in Rwanda with an Irish dairy goat. An Irish dairy goat
produces up to four times as much milk as a local cow. This is enough to enable a family
to enjoy milk in their diet and raise money from the sale of extra milk and cheese.
Well done to everyone for making a difference and supporting such a worthy cause!
